There's the Computers for Beginners, that teaches about CD-ROMs and handles many questions and explains in simple language. The Worldwide Web for Beginners shows how to get onto the web, how to use it, download software and meet people. A Hundred and One Things to Do With Your Computeroffers the opportunity to try different programs, send a greeting, create an onscreen game or move to designing a web page. These books are reasonable in price and are excellent resources. There are many other books in the EDC line that involve activities and learning skills.
